PROPOSAL TO DELIVER BESPOKE TRAINING

 

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

 

MOBILITY

 

DAILY LIVING SKILLS

 

Delivered by the Royal National College for the Blind,

Proposal for the Delivery of Bespoke Training Package

 

The full training package is to be delivered in accommodation identified by Ministry of Social Affairs within their Training facility.

 

Training to be delivered to:

 1)      12 teachers from mainstream education sector (as identified by customer)

 To be delivered on the basis of 2 groups of 6.

 

Aim of Training: 

·     To enable and support teachers to facilitate, integration of,

    disabled and visually impaired learners into mainstream classes.

 

Objectives of Training:  

 

·     To gain a full understanding of the needs and requirements of disabled and visually impaired learners in the classroom environment. Identification of accessible materials and support that can be offered to support integration.

              ·     To gain a full understanding of all aspects of mobility issues of disabled and visually                       impaired learners within their educational  environment

              ·     To be able to support individual learners to progress with their independent daily living                  skills within their educational  environment and/or home. 

Areas of training to be delivered :-

               ·     Classroom Management

·     Mobility Training

·     Daily Living Skills

 

All trainees will receive a formal certificate of achievement from the Royal National College for the Blind for each individual module.

 

 

Classroom Management

 Delivery of this module will be over approximately 4.5 days and will be followed by the practical assessment of each individual trainee in a working environment.

  

This module will include:

 Visual Awareness                  Introduction to Eye Sight Conditions   (4hrs x 6 trainees)

 

Assessment/Awareness of Learners Appropriate Working Medium     (8hrs x 6 trainees)                    Print/Audio / Assistive Software /Tactiles)

 

Appropriate Materials    -        Use of Tactiles / Audio Tactile (T3)  (6hrs x 6 trainees)

 

Lesson Delivery              -        Use of language, explanations, description, (6hrs x 6 trainees)   teaching aids

 

Delivery of content                   =       40hrs minimum

Practical Assessment                =         8hrs per trainee

 

 

Mobility Training

 Delivery of this module will be over approximately 3 days and will be followed by the practical assessment of each individual trainee in a working environment.

 

This module will include:

 

Sighted Guide Training (4hrs x 6 trainees)

 Orientation and Spatial Awareness (8hrs x 6 trainees)

 Introduction to Mobility Aids (to include Hoople/White Canes) (4hrs x 6 trainees)

 Independent Travel / Risk Assessment of Activities (4hrs x 6 trainees)

 

Delivery of content                                      =       20hrs minimum

Assessment of knowledge gained                 =         4hrs per trainee

  

Daily Living Skills (In the learning environment)

 

This module will include:

 Organisational Skills                         -        Punctuality

-              Appearance

-              Planning

-              Money Management

-              Management of Personal Belongings

-              Personal Effectiveness

 

Demonstration of assistive equipment and technology Delivery of Content 8 hrs per 6 trainees

Assessment of Knowledge gained 4hrs per trainee

 

Following completion of the above training a practical quality and observation process would have to be implemented in the teachers working environment.  This would take the format of a 2 day assessment per trainee.

 Training for the learners would be facilitated by the teachers in the classroom / educational environment (where appropriate or realistic working environment).  This could form part of the practical assessment / observation (as above).  This would ensure a continuity of quality.


2)      Training for Family Members (Maximum Group of 6 Trainees)

 

Delivery of this module will be over approximately 3 days and will be followed by the practical assessment of each individual trainee in a working environment.

 

Mobility

 

This module will include:

 

Sighted Guide (4hrs x 6 trainees)

Day to Day practical household activities - Delivered over 8hrs tailored to meet groups requirements

 

Delivery of Content 16 hrs per 6 trainees

Assessment of Knowledge gained 4hrs per trainee

 

The above proposal is based on a maximum of 6 trainees per session.  Any extra requirements to the training will incur additional charges as per negotiation.
